Project Coordinator/Lead Victim Advocate

Job Summary: FULL-TIME

Project Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of project design and implementation; will be attentive to project’s fiscal and administrative requirements, gather material for report-writing, and coordination with Executive Director and Administrative Assistant. She/he will supervise staff and Volunteer Victim Advocate(s) and provide direct advocacy services to survivors as necessary; design and conduct outreach and training sessions to community members, professionals in the field, and ASAFSF volunteers; identify and address project challenges and language needs. She/he will assist Executive Director in collaborations with local, state and national networks to address domestic violence in the project’s target South Asian immigrant communities. She/he will supervise other staff and volunteers, and Administrative Assistant.

As Lead Victim Advocate she/he will deliver services to South Asian domestic violence survivors; engage in community outreach; identify South Asian and mainstream community resources; work closely with Admin Assistant/Victim Advocate. This Lead Victim Advocate will help the South Asian victims of domestic violence to help themselves in leading a life free of violence for themselves and their dependent children. As Lead Victim Advocate, this position

will support and empower survivors in achieving economic and emotional empowerment by offering education, culture-specific intervention/advocacy, and information/referral and long term case management.

Reports to: Executive Director

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with community partners, coordinate and develop the project with culturally specific services and training, focusing on the underserved South Asian community.
  • Build partnership with local, mainstream DV shelters and professionals in the field, ensuring ability to work collaboratively in effective utilization of mainstream resources.
  • Develop cross-training, co-case management skills with mainstream DV service providers to promote culturally appropriate and sensitive interventions to enhance a coordinated community response to DV in the South Asian community.
  • Develop community outreach and education program to reach both the South Asian community and mainstream DV service agencies and there by foster cultural sensitivity.
  • Design, implement and conduct ongoing processes and outcome evaluation for all implemented project strategies and maintain continuous quality improvement plan, evaluation plan and sustainability plan.
  • Maintain collaborative partnership with ACESDV staff, local DV shelters, and other service agencies.
  • Work with the Executive Director to share information with volunteers, staff, members of the Board and donors through newsletters.
  • Continual vigilance of project’s fiscal and administrative requirements and timely report- writing on project progress and expenses.
  • Regularly review current and future budget and finance statements with Executive Director, and Treasurer and assist with ongoing funds development and overall budget needs and goals.
  • Work closely with Executive Director and Board, to prepare for annual audit.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Domestic Violence issues and ability to understand barriers faced by South Asian victims of domestic violence and approaches to providing culturally sensitive services.
  • Knowledge and proven experience in community organizing strategies with focus on appropriate cultural sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of South Asian community systems to effectively deliver project strategies.
  • Experience in partnership development and maintenance
  • Knowledge of one or more South Asian language(s) and being bi-cultural.
  • Understanding and knowledge of dynamics of family and domestic violence in South Asian community and how it differs from mainstream community.
  • Awareness of minority cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of team
  • Proven skills in data collection and analysis
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to meet timelines and deadlines.
  • Flexibility, ability to prioritize, and experience in working on multiple tasks, efficiently and effectively
  • Working with women in empowering way
  • Case Management/Advocacy skills
  • Awareness of immigrant issues and how they impact DV victims
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends whenever needed.
  • Ability to get a fingerprint clearance card
  • Computer proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have own reliable transportation/Vehicle, current auto insurance and a valid Arizona State Drivers’ license.
